Lam Dong - Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has approved the project to complete the southern Bao Loc bypass with a total investment of 400 billion VND, implemented in the period 2026 - 2028.

On April 24, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee announced that it had issued a Decision approving the project to complete the southern Bao Loc bypass with a total investment of 400 billion VND, implemented in the period 2026 – 2028.

According to the decision, the project has a starting point at Km113+680 (National Highway 20) and an ending point at Km128+800, with a length of about 15.5km, passing through Ward 3 Bao Loc and Ward B'Lao (Lam Dong province).

The road is designed with a scale of 2 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles; the roadbed is 12m wide, including a road surface of 7m, reinforced sidewalks of 4m and earthen sidewalks of 1m. The route direction basically follows the current status that has been handed over before.

The project will continue to complete 3 existing bridges including Minh Rong, Nausri and Au Co with a width of 12m; and at the same time add items such as expansion joints, railings, waterproofing layers and asphalt concrete bridge deck.

The province will invest in building a new viaduct at Km7+820, the location where the foundation subsidence occurred, to ensure safety and suit the scale of the route.

The capital source for implementation is from the province's medium-term public investment budget for the period 2026 – 2030. The implementation period is 2026 – 2028, invested by the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 of Lam Dong province.

The investment in completing the bypass is aimed at overcoming the situation of damage and degradation; meeting the increasing traffic demand, reducing pressure on National Highway 20 when the traffic volume of transit vehicles does not pass through the central wards of Bao Loc; and at the same time contributing to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring local defense and security.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper has repeatedly reported: The Southern Bao Loc bypass was started in 2017 with a total investment of more than 800 billion VND. The project scale is a grade III mountain road.

The project belongs to the Project to invest in the construction of works to restore and renovate National Highway 20 in the territory of Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces under the BT contract form. According to the plan, the bypass route on Bao Loc side will be completed and put into use in 2019.

However, from October 2020 to now, due to lack of capital, the Project has temporarily suspended construction, waiting for competent authorities to consider and handle capital sources. At the time of suspension, the project had completed 70% of the workload.

During the temporary suspension of construction, this road has been damaged and degraded in many construction items, causing loss and waste of property and state budget.

In particular, recently, many dangerous subsidence and landslides have occurred on this road, which are direct causes of traffic accidents that have caused at least 3 deaths.

Not only that, this also makes traffic for people difficult, affecting people's lives.
