Back to the original silver glitter color
After more than 2 months of construction, the appearance of Truong Tien bridge (Hue City) is clearly changing. All 12 steel arches of the bridge across the Perfume River have been painted with silver glitter, replacing the familiar gray color for many years.
According to a representative of the Central Road Project Management Board, the Truong Tien bridge repair and maintenance project currently reaches about 65% of the volume. Construction units are focusing on completing the remaining parts, expected to be completed in mid-September 2026.

This is an item under package No. 3 of the project to repair some sections of National Highway 1 through Hue City. Truong Tien bridge alone is allocated more than 12 billion VND to treat degraded steel components, reinforce damaged positions and improve the external protection layer of the project.
Instead of just coating the old surface, the repair process is carried out in many steps. Steel components are cleaned, rust is removed and affected areas are treated before applying protective paint layers.

The silver glitter color chosen this time is assessed to be close to the original color of Truong Tien bridge. Along with painting the bridge arches, the contractor also repaired the expansion joints, replaced damaged bolts and reinforced components that no longer meet the requirements.
Because the bridge is located in the center, construction is mainly organized at night. From about 9 pm to 5 am the next morning, the bridge is temporarily closed to serve construction and ensure safety. During the day, vehicles still circulate normally.

According to the plan, the remaining parts will be completed in the near future, before the project enters the acceptance stage. The completion of painting items before the rainy season is also prioritized to limit the impact of weather.
New color but still ancient
For the people of Hue, Truong Tien bridge is not only a traffic project but also an image associated with memories of the city by the Perfume River. Therefore, the bridge's rapid change in color attracted attention.

Ms. Sally Pham, who was born and raised in Hue City, left her hometown to live abroad in 2013. More than a decade away from Hue, she still carries the image of the bridge appearing in her daily life. On her return day, Truong Tien Bridge continued to be the destination she chose to take photos with friends.
Despite going through a long time and many repairs, the bridge still retains its characteristic ancient beauty. The new paint makes the building look brighter and fresher but does not lose its familiar image" - Ms. Sally shared.
And Ms. Tran Thi Nguyen, a photographer who has been attached to Truong Tien bridge for nearly 30 years, said that she has witnessed the bridge through many stages. According to her, after this repair, the bridge is brighter and more prominent but still retains its inherent ancient beauty.

The days when the bridge is given a new silver color also coincide with the time when the Perfume River area has many beautiful landscapes, especially the phoenix flower season. Therefore, the number of people coming to the bridge area to visit and take photos tends to increase.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Phuc, a tourist from Da Nang City, said that the appearance of Truong Tien bridge today is clearly different from the time he came to Hue before. The new paint color creates a brighter feeling for the bridge, while familiar images of Hue such as the Perfume River, trees and phoenix flowers still create a unique feature.
