Statistics on the damage caused by storm No. 3, Vietnam Railways Corporation said that according to a preliminary report, as of 7:00 a.m. on September 8, 2024, storm No. 3 had affected a number of locations on railway lines.
Many trees fell on the railway on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lam - Hai Phong, and Yen Vien - Lao Cai routes.
Bac Hong – Van Dien route: there are still many fallen trees, the unit is fixing them: Km16+500, 19+500, 19+700, 22+500, 24+100, 27+300, 27+900 Km33+025 (an old tree fell across the railway).
Hanoi - Dong Dang route: Currently it is raining very heavily, many trees have fallen on the railway, water is flooding the top of the rails, the unit is continuing to monitor and clear the road to clear it as soon as possible.
Kep - Ha Long - Cai Lan route, Mai Pha - Na Duong route, Chi Linh - Pha Lai route: Many trees and information poles fell onto the railway. The unit is organizing the clearance to ensure the road is cleared in the fastest time.
Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway line, Gia Lam – Hai Phong line: Many sections of suspended information cable lines were crushed by fallen trees.
Due to the incident of trees and information poles falling onto the railway on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, some trains had to stop at stations along the route, and trains departing from Hanoi station were later than scheduled to wait for the route to be cleared.
Regarding the direction of rescue and damage recovery, Vietnam Railway Corporation said that Vinh Phu, Ha Thai, Ha Lang, and Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Companies have directed functional departments, teams, and road supply and demand units to promptly overcome the consequences of trees falling on railways on railway lines, ensuring construction safety and railway traffic safety.
In response to storm No. 3 (Yagi), Vietnam Railways Corporation has continued to cancel passenger trains: Canceling trains LP3 and LP6 departing on September 8, 2024.
