Quang Nam voters proposed to consider and prioritize the allocation of funds to upgrade National Highway 40B, the section from Bac Tra My district to Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province) connecting Tu Mo Rong district (Kon Tum province) appropriately. with the North Central and Central Coastal Region Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, vision 2050, at the same time, connecting the East-West economic corridor, promoting socio-economic development.
Responding to this issue on August 28, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) said that according to the Planning, National Highway 40B section through Quang Nam province is 139km long, level III scale, 2-4 lanes.
In particular, the section connecting Bac Tra My district, Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province) with Tu Ma Rong district (Kon Tum province) is about 45km long (Km60 - Km101), the current status is level V mountainous, 2 lanes.
The Ministry of Transport agreed with the proposal of the voters of Quang Nam province on the need to invest in National Highway 40B connecting the districts of North Tra My, South Tra My with Tu Ma Rong district to meet the needs of transportation and support. supporting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and regional security.
“However, due to resource difficulties, it is not possible to allocate capital to invest in the route in the period 2021 - 2025. The Ministry of Transport acknowledged voters' recommendations, in the process of developing a central public investment plan. For the period 2026 - 2030, based on the ability to balance resources and principles of capital allocation according to regulations, the Ministry of Transport will consider reporting to the competent authority to invest in this section of the route," the Ministry of Transport informed.
In the immediate future, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to strengthen the inspection, maintenance and repair of National Highway 40B to ensure safety and convenience for vehicles participating in traffic.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had an article noting the current situation " Jagged potholes and elbow bends on Highway 40B in Quang Nam ".
The article reflects that after 13 years of being put into use, the section of National Highway 40B through the mountains of Quang Nam has degraded, causing traffic participants to face many dangers.
With a length of more than 209km, National Highway 40B has its beginning at Tam Thanh commune (Tam Ky city) passing through Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc, North Tra My, South Tra My districts of Quang Nam, to Tu Mo Rong and Ngoc districts. Hoi (Kon Tum).
In particular, the section from Tam Ky through Nam Tra My to the border with Tu Mo Rong district (belonging to the South Quang Nam road project phase I) was invested from government bonds and has been put into operation since 2011.
