“The promulgation of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and Decree 168 has changed people's awareness, raised awareness of compliance, and shown that legal policies are widely disseminated,” Mr. Hai affirmed.
In recent times, the Traffic Police force has also prioritized guiding and educating people on traffic participation, while resolutely punishing intentional violations. Of these, 560 violations of traffic light signals, 529 violations of going in the wrong direction, and 1,401 violations of driving in the wrong lane have been punished.
Deputy Head of PC08 also said that during rush hour, on key routes, people driving vehicles stopped at serious traffic lights, stopping at the correct line. The situation of traffic participants driving on the sidewalk, not on the right side of the road, and driving in the wrong direction no longer occurs.

Through that, Mr. Hai said that people have had a positive change in awareness. Especially the culture of not driving after consuming alcohol has gradually improved. People have become accustomed to using technology vehicles, sitting in the back, and not driving after consuming alcohol.
From January 1 to January 31, 2025, 71 traffic accidents (including collisions) occurred in Ho Chi Minh City, killing 35 people and injuring 36 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 92 fewer cases (a decrease of 56%), 5 fewer deaths (a decrease of 13%), 83 fewer injuries (a decrease of 70%).
The traffic accident situation since Decree 168 took effect has been significantly reduced in all three criteria compared to the same period in 2024, showing clear effectiveness in reducing traffic accidents.
