According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority, Vietnam Airlines operates nearly 99,000 flights with an on-time take-off rate (OTP) of 81.8%.
Vietjet operates more than 100,000 flights, with an on-time flight rate of 63%.
Bamboo Airways operates significantly fewer flights than the above two airlines, just over 15,400 flights, and records an on-time flight rate of 83.6%. These are also the three airlines with the largest market share in Vietnam.
Statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also show that the main cause of Vietnam Airlines' flight delays is late arrival of aircraft, accounting for 10.6%, while other factors such as flight management and weather only account for about 0.7%.
For Bamboo Airways, late arrival of aircraft is also the biggest cause, accounting for 11.9% of total flights. Factors such as management, flight operations and airline-related issues account for 1.4% and 2.3% respectively.
Currently, the aviation industry is mobilizing all resources to serve passengers during the peak period at the end of 2024 and to welcome the Lunar New Year.
According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, up to now, the total number of seats provided on international and domestic flights from January 14 to February 12, 2025 has reached more than 7 million seats, an increase of more than 5% compared to the Giap Thin Lunar New Year.
