According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, each year in the world, about 1.3 million people die and about 50 million people are injured in traffic accidents. Traffic accidents are still the leading cause of death for the age group from 1527.
In Vietnam, in recent years, traffic accidents have been controlled and reduced in all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries. However, in the first 10 months of this year, there were still more than 15,400 accidents nationwide, killing more than 8,700 people and causing over 10,000 people to be disabled for life.
Notably, traffic accidents involving children are still at a high level, with nearly 2,000 cases, causing nearly 800 children to die and more than 2,000 children to be injured. The consequences of traffic accidents are not only a lasting pain for the victims' families, but also affect the economic growth results and the image of a safe and friendly country in the eyes of international friends and partners.
On October 27, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized and chose the third Sunday of November every year as "World Day to Commemorate Traffic Accident Victims". This year, on November 16, with the theme "Safe journey, creating the future", Vietnam and the world will organize the 13th response activities to this event, to commemorate unfortunate victims, share the loss with their families, and remind each person of the invaluable value of safety in life.
This is also an opportunity to emphasize the importance of complying with the law on traffic order and safety, with familiar but always urgent messages:
After drinking alcohol, Im not driving; Slow down the speed One second, slow for the whole life; Clap your hat for your child founder of parents; Dont use your phone while driving; Connect a seat belt when driving a car; Dont hand over the motorbike to someone who is not qualified to drive a vehicle.
Everyone needs to strictly comply with traffic laws, be aware of giving in, helping each other when participating in traffic, contributing to building a safe and civilized traffic environment.
Above all, each parent, each teacher, each individual must be an example in implementing legal regulations, building a traffic culture, raising awareness of responsibility towards themselves, the community and especially ensuring safety for children.
The National Traffic Safety Committee calls on every Vietnamese citizen, for the sustainable development of the country, for the safety of themselves, the community and future generations, to voluntarily comply with traffic safety regulations, join hands to prevent traffic accidents.
