Car catches fire on highway, driver luckily escapes

    HCMC - A male driver was driving a pickup truck on the HCMC - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway when it suddenly caught fire.

    The incident of a pickup truck catching fire on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway (Thu Duc city section), heading to Dong Nai happened at around 12:40 on January 2.

    While driving, realizing there was a fire, the male driver quickly drove into the emergency lane to check, the fire then flared up and burned fiercely. The driver was lucky to escape.

    Some drivers passing through the area tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. The Highway Management Unit and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Thu Duc City Police arrived to direct traffic and put out the fire.

    About 30 minutes later, the fire was brought under control. The fire burned down the pickup truck.

    A representative of Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC-E) confirmed that the fire occurred on the highway about 4 km from Long Phuoc toll station. The fire slowed down traffic on the highway to Dong Nai.
