The People's Committee of Bac Lieu province has issued Official Dispatch 314, officially adjusting the price of domestic water in 2025 in Bac Lieu city. Accordingly, from February this year, city residents will pay the new water price, with an average increase of about 2 - 3% compared to before.
According to Mr. Vo Minh Trang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bac Lieu Water Supply Joint Stock Company - this adjustment is to ensure the production and business activities of the company, while compensating for increased costs due to inflation. However, the new price increase is applied differently to each customer group, with priority given to supporting households in difficult circumstances.
Accordingly, from February 2025, the average water price will increase to VND9,506/m3. Although this increase is not large, it will still affect the spending of many households. Specifically, the price applied to poor and near-poor households is from VND4,750 - VND9,030/m3; the price applied to residential households is from VND7,320 - VND9,690/m3. In addition, there is the price of domestic water for administrative agencies, public services; organizations and individuals producing materials; and organizations and individuals doing business and providing services with prices ranging from VND10,070/m3 to VND12,450/m3 for business households.
A car wash on Tran Phu Street, Ward 1, Bac Lieu City said: The water price increase was announced in advance, but the step-by-step calculation will increase the price very high. We calculate the cost increase to 100,000 VND/car but the profit is not sure to be equal to the old price (70,000 VND/car) because the more we use, the higher the price.
This price adjustment is said to be based on Decision 31/2023 of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province on regulating the price of clean water for daily life in Bac Lieu city from 2023 to 2027.
