On the evening of January 24, at Hung Vuong Square, Bac Lieu city, the Vietnam Journalists Association of Bac Lieu province coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the opening ceremony of the Spring Book and Newspaper Exhibition of At Ty 2025.
The exhibition introduces 4,800 copies of books and spring newspapers from publishers and press agencies. The books and newspapers are arranged in a beautiful and impressive artistic model, with diverse and rich content, giving readers a panoramic view of the components of the country in general and Bac Lieu in particular in the fields of economy, politics, culture and society.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Bac Lieu Province - Mr. Nguyen Duy Hoang - said that the exhibition displaying spring newspaper products will bring readers an attractive spiritual food during Tet holidays.
Nguyen Kim Oanh (Ward 7, Bac Lieu City) said: “Every year, near Tet, my friends and I come up with ideas for a photo shoot at the flower market. This year, we chose to take photos in traditional ao dai with our favorite flowers, many colors with the theme.
When Tet comes, almost every family chooses for themselves bright flowers with good meanings to display in the house, praying for luck and many good things in the new year.
Choosing to buy flower pots with beautiful designs, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (Ward 2, Bac Lieu City) shared: “My family likes to buy flowers early to display in the house during Tet, as well as to buy at a better price than the day before Tet so that the seller can make a profit. This year, my family continues to choose to buy apricot flowers and five-color bougainvillea to pray for luck, brilliance and prosperity in the new year.
Going to the flower market has become a habit of my family every Tet holiday. The happiest time is when everyone comes up with ideas to choose the most beautiful flower pots. That also contributes to strengthening family ties."
Appearing at the Bac Lieu flower market for the first time, the Dien grapefruit trees attracted a lot of attention. However, because they were new, there were more people asking for prices than buyers.
Besides the yellow apricot garden, this year peach blossoms from the North are also present at the spring flower market. Mr. Nguyen Van Huan, a peach blossom seller, said: “People in Bac Lieu are not familiar with peach blossoms, but these days I mainly sell to people with origins from the North.”
Flower markets have become a part of the vibrant colors of Tet.
Going to the flower market contributes to preserving the cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, making spring more bustling and sparkling. Perhaps that is why Bac Lieu flower market has long had no price gouging or waiting until near New Year's Eve to buy.
