Notably, the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department) in October continuously detected and prevented many cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, including gold.
Most recently, at around 9:00 a.m. on October 18, at the Arrivals Hall - International Passenger Terminal T2 - Noi Bai International Airport, the Import Baggage Procedures Team discovered a foreign passenger hiding metal on his person.
Through the inspection, baggage screening and metal scanning, the passenger, Mr. C.H.P (foreign nationality), took out 7 pieces of yellow metal from his body.
Accordingly, 5 pieces of yellow metal were placed around the waistband of the pants, 1 piece of yellow metal was placed in the right shoe and 1 piece of yellow metal was placed in the left shoe. The total weight was about 7kg.
Working with the authorities, Mr. C.H.P confessed that on October 18, he came to Vietnam for tourism on flight UO550 and was hired by a foreigner to transport the above mentioned metal into Vietnam for a fee of 100 HKD/1 piece, after which someone would contact him to receive it.
Continue to strengthen inspection and handling of violations of smuggled and counterfeit goods
