According to Lao Dong on November 7, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has just updated the online deposit interest rate increase by 0.3%/year for terms from 6 to 9 months.
According to the online interest rate table, the interest rate for 6-9 month terms has increased to 3.5%/year, while the interest rate for other terms remains the same.
The interest rate for a 1-2 month term is 2.2%/year, and for a 12-18 month term it is 4.7%/year. The highest term is 24 months with a maximum interest rate of 4.8%/year.
Among the Big 4, Agribank is the only bank that has continuously adjusted deposit interest rates in the past 4 months. On October 16, Agribank increased 0.2%/year for terms of 1-5 months and decreased 0.1%/year for terms of 6-11 months.
Previously, in September 2024, Agribank increased interest rates by 0.2%/year for 1-2 month terms and 0.3%/year for 3-5 month terms.
In August 2024, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms will increase by 0.2%/year, 3-5 month terms will increase by 0.3%/year and 24 month terms will increase by 0.1%/year.
After four consecutive adjustments, Agribank's interest rates for terms under 12 months are now significantly higher than those of the other three banks in the Big4 group.
Interest rates for 1-2 month terms at Agribank are 0.2%/year higher than BIDV and VietinBank, and 0.4%/year higher than Vietcombank.
The 3-5 month term interest rate at Agribank is 0.4%/year higher than BIDV and VietinBank, and 0.8%/year higher than Vietcombank.
Finally, Agribank's 6-9 month term interest rate is currently 0.2%/year higher than BIDV and VietinBank, and 0.4%/year higher than Vietcombank.

For the 1-month term, Bac A Bank leads with an interest rate of 4.15%/year. OceanBank follows with an interest rate of 4.1%/year; Eximbank, Dong A Bank, OCB, NCB, MSB currently pay interest of 3.9%/year for this term.
At the 3-month term, Bac A Bank leads with an interest rate of 4.45%/year. Followed by OceanBank with an interest rate of 4.4%/year and Eximbank with an interest rate of 4.3%/year.
At the 6-month term, Bac A Bank currently pays the highest interest rate of 5.6%/year. Followed by NCB, Dong A Bank with interest rate of 5.55%/year and interest rate of 5.4%/year listed at OceanBank.
At the 9-month term, Bac A Bank currently pays an interest rate of 5.7%/year; NCB currently pays an interest rate of 5.65%/year. Following is the interest rate of 5.55%/year listed at Dong A Bank.
For a 12-month term, Bac A Bank currently offers the highest interest rate of 6.0%/year. This is followed by an interest rate of 5.9%/year at ABBank and an interest rate of 5.8%/year at OceanBank, Dong A Bank, NCB, BVBank, SaigonBank and BaovietBank.
