The Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai said that it will soon advise the Provincial People's Committee to grant power operation licenses for a number of wind power projects with a capacity of less than 50MW.
The provisions of the new Power Law allow the province to grant power operation licenses for power projects under 50MW; Previously, this was under the authority of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Currently, in Gia Lai, there are 5 wind power projects that have not been put into commercial operation, although these projects have been completed since 2023.
The reason is that the 5 wind power projects have some violations of the law on construction investment such as: construction on forestry land, investors converting land use purposes for wind power towers...
After the Government Inspectorate pointed out violations and shortcomings, investors of wind power projects worth thousands of billions of VND have remedied their shortcomings and implemented them in accordance with legal regulations.
Currently, projects such as: Cho Long Wind Power Plant, Yang Trung Wind Power Plant, Ia Pech Wind Power Plant, Mountainous Development Wind Power Plant and Central Highlands Processing Wind Power Plant in Gia Lai are waiting for the competent authority to grant them a power operation license, as a legal basis for investors to negotiate electricity prices and sign a power purchase contract with Vietnam Electricity Group.
Implementing the Power VIII Adjustment Plan, Gia Lai will publicly arrange land funds for renewable energy development in the planning and land use plan of the province.
At the same time, coordinate with EVN to increase the capacity to release renewable energy projects, while supporting investors to fully carry out procedures for construction, investment, compensation for site clearance, land and environment in accordance with regulations.
