The train "straight" to America
On November 18, at Chu Lai port, a batch of 400 semi-trailers (SMRM) of THACO INDUSTRIES Group was loaded onto a ship and began its journey to Jacksonville port, East Coast of the United States. This is the first ship departing from Chu Lai, transporting export goods to the US market without having to transit via mother ship as before.
The ship's journey passes through major ports including: Kanda (Japan), Busan (Korea), Chu Lai (Vietnam), Nantong (China), before reaching the final destination in Jacksonville (USA). With this shipping route, Chu Lai port opens up opportunities for businesses' goods to quickly access major markets in Asia and the US - Vietnam's largest export market.
The representative of the export enterprise shared: “The American market, especially the United States, has a large import-export turnover value with groups of goods that can be transported two-way by sea such as: wood products, means of transport, spare parts, etc. Therefore, the opening of a direct shipping route to the US by Chu Lai port is very necessary, helping export goods in the Central and Central Highlands regions to skip the transit step. At the same time, if combined with convection transport of imported goods, it will help businesses save significant time and costs.”
Optimal solution for export businesses
Currently, the demand for exporting goods to the US of businesses in the Central region is very large. To meet this demand, Chu Lai port has expanded cooperation with many international shipping lines, increased exploitation of shipping routes, connecting with many major ports on the East and West coasts of the US such as: Savannah, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Chicago, New York, Jacksonville, Seattle... with a frequency of 4 trips/month. In particular, Chu Lai port provides voyage services (flexible schedules), helping businesses transport quickly when output increases or orders are urgent without having to depend on international ships (fixed schedules).
Mr. Phan Van Ky - Director of Chu Lai Port said: "Since the deep-water wharf was put into operation, with the ability to receive general cargo ships up to 50,000 DWT and modern, high-capacity loading and unloading equipment, Chu Lai Port has attracted many domestic and international companies to cooperate, increasing the frequency of port visits. The development of a direct shipping route to the US will help businesses in Chu Lai Industrial Park, Tam Thang, Thuan Yen (Quang Nam), VSIP (Quang Ngai) ... when exporting to reduce transit costs to major ports in the North and South".
In addition, THILOGI's successful registration of the FMC license of the US Federal Maritime Commission has helped businesses exporting through Chu Lai port avoid risks and costs arising at the delivery location or transit points, because the US is a strict market in terms of regulations on goods declaration, customs clearance, etc.
Since the beginning of the year, Chu Lai Port has welcomed nearly 1,000 ships with a variety of service routes, providing many optimal transportation solutions for businesses. In the coming time, the port will continue to expand its market, promote the exploitation of export goods from clusters, industrial parks, economic zones in the Central region, Central Highlands, Laos, Cambodia... to attract new shipping lines to cooperate, and open more international shipping routes.
In addition, Chu Lai Port is promoting digital transformation, optimizing service provision and port exploitation processes... to meet the increasing demand for import and export of goods, while aiming for sustainable development with the goal of becoming a "green port" in the future.
Now, Chu Lai port is not only a strategic gateway, but also plays a role as a driving force for regional economic development, and brings benefits to the import-export business community.
