Along with upgrading Tra Linh and Ta Lung border gates to international border gates, Cao Bang province is investing large resources in the border gate infrastructure system.
According to the latest report from the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, Cao Bang is simultaneously implementing many projects with a total capital of more than 158 billion VND, focusing on modernizing the infrastructure for cross-border trade of goods.

At Tra Linh International Border Gate, the resettlement area and the traffic system are continuing to be built. Along with that is the project to renovate and upgrade the Joint Control Station, to improve customs clearance efficiency.
In particular, the project to upgrade technical infrastructure at Ta Lung Border Gate is being urgently implemented, with items such as the Ta Lung II Bridge Control Gate and a fence.
On September 25, speaking with reporters, Mr. Ly Quoc Khanh - Deputy Head of the Management Board of Cao Bang Economic Zone: "In the Ta Lung Bridge II area, we are taking steps to soon invest in building infrastructure to make 2 import-export border crossings".

According to the representative of the Economic Zone Management Board, this move is to serve the coming time by building smart border gates to help the customs clearance of goods be synchronous.
Last September, Cao Bang coordinated with the Chinese side to organize the Ceremony to announce the upgrading of the Ta Lung (Vietnam) - Thuy Khau (China) border gate pair to an international border gate. This event is expected to create a big boost for the border economy.
In addition, the province is actively completing procedures to soon upgrade Po Peo Border Gate to a main border gate (local), opening an important trade channel.
The investment in infrastructure items aims to soon modernize, automate customs clearance processes, improve cargo transportation capacity, and meet development needs in the coming period.

Despite achieving initial positive results, the projects also face significant challenges. The disbursement rate of public investment capital has so far only reached 28.4% of the plan, mainly due to problems in site clearance.
In this situation, the Cao Bang Economic Zone Management Board is coordinating with local authorities to speed up site clearance progress, completing the project on schedule.
The development of border gate infrastructure is expected to be a driving force to promote the border gate economy of Cao Bang as well as contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the border area.
