According to the plan issued by the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, on the morning of September 12, the Ceremony to announce the upgrading of the Ta Lung (Vietnam) - Thuy Khau (China) border gate pair to an international border gate, including the customs clearance on the Ta Lung II bridge, will be solemnly held.
The event marked an important turning point in expanding economic, trade and exchange cooperation between Cao Bang province (Vietnam) and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China).
The announcement ceremony was held to complete legal procedures according to the provisions of Decree 112/2014/ND-CP and Decree 34/2023/ND-CP of the Government on the management of land border gates, while affirming the strong commitment of both sides in promoting cross-border trade.

The announcement ceremony will take place at the Ta Lung II - Thuy Khau bridge crossing area, with the participation of about 140 delegates from both sides. On the Vietnamese side, it was led by the leaders of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, along with representatives of departments, branches, sectors and functional forces.
On the Chinese side, there were the participation of leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and representatives of relevant authorities.
The final preparation activities such as testing of cargo vehicles and rehearsal of the entire program will take place on September 10 and 11, 2025.
On September 10, the Ta Lung II bridge crossing area has completed the infrastructure items. Most notably is the Ta Lung II Bridge Control Station building, connecting bridges and fences, traffic lanes... all ready for operation.

Speaking with reporters, a representative of the Cao Bang Economic Zone Management Board said that all preparations for the announcement ceremony are being carefully prepared, and the trial operation of goods customs clearance is also being carried out.
It is known that at noon on September 12, there will be 20 cargo vehicles (10 vehicles on each side) performing the cargo opening ceremony.
The event of successfully upgrading Ta Lung border gate to an international border gate marked the success of the negotiation process, expanding economic exchanges of Cao Bang in particular and the whole country in general.
Previously, on December 28, 2023, the Tra Linh (Vietnam) - Long Bang (China) border gate pair was upgraded to an international border gate including the Na Doan - Na Ray border crossing. Thus, within just 2 years, Cao Bang has successfully upgraded 2 international border gates.
The successful upgrading of the Ta Lung - Thuy Khau border gate pair to an international border gate is expected to create new momentum for socio-economic development in the border area, attract investment, boost import and export and promote cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
It is known that in the first 8 months of 2025, import-export turnover through Cao Bang reached nearly 995 million USD, exceeding the annual plan. Of which, the main amount of goods is cleared at Ta Lung border gate.
According to the planning of border gates on the Vietnam - China mainland border for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 of the Prime Minister, Cao Bang province will have 3 international border gates: Ly Van (Vietnam) - Thac Long (China), Ta Lung (Vietnam) - Thuy Khau (China) and Tra Linh (Vietnam) - Long Bang (China). Based on this plan, Cao Bang has "given birth to 2/3 of the route" by successfully upgrading 2 international border gates.
