At 16:00 on April 24, WTI oil price was at 96.71 USD/barrel, up 0.86 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.90%. Brent oil was at 106.39 USD/barrel, up 1.32 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.26%.
Oil prices in today's trading session continued to rise due to concerns about a new military escalation in the Middle East after Iran released a video of commandos boarding cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and the lack of progress in reopening this important waterway.
Cargo transportation across the strait, which before the war transported about one-fifth of global oil production, is still effectively blockaded. Iran's arrest of two cargo ships has highlighted Washington's difficulties in trying to control this route.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: the peace talks between the US and Iran have not made progress; increasing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is still taking place... The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on each item.
The average world finished gasoline and oil prices between the price adjustment period on April 21, 2026 and the price adjustment period on April 23, 2026 are: 121.230 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (up 0.650 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.54%); 126.435 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 1.465 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.17%); 146.425 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (down 5.835 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 3.83%); 604.025 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S mazut oil (down 23.485 USD/ton, equivalent to a decrease of 3.71%).
Domestic gasoline and oil prices on April 24, 2026, applied according to the price level in the price adjustment session on April 23, 2026:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 21,834 VND/liter (down 100 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price), lower than RON95-III gasoline by 1,046 VND/liter;
- RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 22,880 VND/liter (down 162 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 26,697 VND/liter (down 1,159 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 18,811 VND/kg (down 820 VND/kg compared to the current maximum selling price).
Gasoline and oil selling prices of neighboring countries of Vietnam on April 23, 2026:
- Regarding gasoline prices: Thailand: 34,755 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 32,560 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Laos: 45,330 VND/liter; China: 34,406 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 22,880 VND/liter.
