At 5:30 PM on April 23, WTI oil price was at 94.22 USD/barrel, up 1.26 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.36%. Brent oil was at 103.37 USD/barrel, up 1.46 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.43%.
Oil prices in today's trading session continued to increase by more than 1 USD due to the suspension of peace talks between Iran and the United States and trade restrictions continuing to be applied through the Strait of Hormuz.
Although US President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire between the two countries at the request of Pakistani mediators, Iran and the US are still restricting the transportation of ships across the strait, which transports about 20% of global daily oil supplies until the war begins on February 28.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: the peace talks between the US and Iran have not made progress; increasing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is still taking place... The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on each item.
In the price management session on April 23, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance decided to deduct from the gasoline and oil price stabilization fund (temporary advance fund from the state budget):
- Biofuel: 0 VND/liter;
- Unleaded gasoline: 0 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil: 400 VND/liter;
- Mazut oil: 400 VND/kg.
After implementing the provision and use of the gasoline and oil price stabilization fund for gasoline and oil items as above, the selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market are as follows:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 21,834 VND/liter (down 100 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price), lower than RON95-III gasoline by 1,046 VND/liter;
- RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 22,880 VND/liter (down 162 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 26,697 VND/liter (down 1,159 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 18,811 VND/kg (down 820 VND/kg compared to the current maximum selling price).
Gasoline and oil selling prices of neighboring countries of Vietnam on April 23, 2026:
- Regarding gasoline prices: Thailand: 34,755 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 32,560 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Laos: 45,330 VND/liter; China: 34,406 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 22,880 VND/liter.
- Regarding oil prices: Thailand: 34,141 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 37,494 VND/liter; Laos: 58,027 VND/liter; China: 31,313 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 26,697 VND/liter.
Thus, Vietnam's gasoline and oil prices are currently lower than those of countries sharing a common border.
