Urgent assessment and compensation advance
On the afternoon of September 13, sharing about the support activities for customers affected by storms and floods, Mr. Phung Ba Khang, Deputy General Director of Marketing and Value Planning Commitment of AIA said: “Promptly paying insurance benefits to customers affected by natural disasters is not only a responsibility but also a strong affirmation of AIA Vietnam's commitment to accompany customers. We understand that in the most difficult times, peace of mind and timely support are what every family needs most.
Accordingly, right at the time of the storm and flood, AIA Vietnam closely monitored information to quickly find customers who were participating in insurance contracts with the Company and were affected after the storm.
Through its office system and sales team in the localities, AIA Vietnam recorded 5 unfortunate customer deaths, including 4 customers in Hai Duong and 1 customer in Quang Ninh.
After just over a day, the Company completed the procedures and paid insurance benefits to the families of these customers with a total insurance benefit of more than 6.5 billion VND.
A representative of Bao Viet Insurance said that the company has received 692 loss cases after nearly 6 days since storm No. 3 (Yagi). The company is urgently implementing appraisal work and plans to provide advance compensation for serious damages.
"With estimated losses of up to hundreds of billions of VND and hundreds of customers reporting damage, Bao Viet Insurance is committed to quickly implementing a program to advance compensation for serious losses, while ensuring quick, complete and timely insurance compensation, focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 and post-storm floods," said a representative of the unit.
At Agribank Insurance, Mr. Do Minh Hoang, a member of the Board of Directors of the company, said that the company has established 15 working groups to go to "hot spots" and approach the scene. However, there are still many isolated areas such as Phu Tho, Son La, Lao Cai... that have not been able to access the scene.
According to statistics from Agribank Insurance, as of September 9, 2024, there have been nearly 400 losses from businesses (not including losses from individual customers), with estimated loan losses from Agribank of about 100 billion VND.
Types of damaged assets include machinery, industrial equipment and infrastructure.

For the compensation process to be effective, Bao Viet Insurance recommends that customers proactively report damages and cooperate closely.

At Agribank Insurance, Mr. Do Minh Hoang shared that the current compensation process of Agirbank Insurance consists of 3 steps: Step 1, approaching the scene, assessing the loss; Step 2, making a plan for provisional compensation payment and then moving to step 3, completing the file. Thus, the payment is advanced before completing the file so that customers can promptly repair or replace the property, then supplement documents and complete the file.
