On November 22, Pacific Petroleum Joint Stock Company announced that it had stopped selling at its business location at 3 Le Hong Phong Street, Vung Tau City since the afternoon of November 21.
Previously, on November 20, this gas station was sealed by the Department of Standards and Quality Measurement (Department of Science and Technology of the province), temporarily suspending the operation of 5 gas stations due to deviations exceeding the allowable level.
"In addition to stopping sales, we have sent a document to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade to request to stop the operation of this business according to regulations," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Director of the company - added.
According to Mr. Phong, the suspension of operations at the above gas station was due to the fact that the Provincial Military Command had issued a document to reclaim the premises since around January 2024. However, the unit has requested an extension and is operating at a low level to collect debts, as well as transfer and guide customers to other facilities.
The occurrence of measurement errors is an unfortunate incident. During operation, the meter may have errors, so it must be checked and adjusted every 3 months. However, during the preparation for shutdown, adjustments were not made in time, leading to the discovery of errors exceeding the allowable limit in some meters when the authorities inspected.
"The correct meters are still allowed to operate, but there are not many customers. Therefore, the business has submitted a document to the Department of Industry and Trade asking for permission to close immediately instead of waiting until the end of the year," Mr. Phong explained.
Ms. To Ngoc Lan - Head of Trade Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade - said that she has grasped information related to the gas station at 3 Le Hong Phong Street, Vung Tau City.
"However, the department has not yet received an official document. When received, it will consider and resolve the request to stop operations and revoke the operating license of the above gas station according to regulations," said Ms. Lan.
