Snow Mai sold out
In the days leading up to Tet, besides traditional peach blossoms and apricot blossoms, the fresh flower market recorded the rise of a new trend: arranging double lilies combined with snow apricot blossoms. From social networks to home-loving groups, women invite each other to show off flower vases "following the trend", causing purchasing power to increase sharply.
According to records at many flower markets and fresh flower shops in Hanoi, snow apricots have become the most sought-after item. Many small traders said that the number of customers looking for snow apricot branches has increased 2-3 times compared to the previous month but there are no beautiful snow apricots.
At markets such as Nghia Tan, Nam Trung Yen, Mai Dich (Hanoi), it is very difficult to find a beautiful bundle of snow apricot blossoms. Scattered are a few stores selling snow apricot blossoms but not beautiful, the price is also quite high, ranging from 130-150 VND/bundle (3-5 branches).
If last month, when snow apricot blossoms bloomed, a bunch of 3-5 branches only ranged from 60,000-80,000 VND, but now it is very difficult to find a satisfactory snow apricot bunch.
For about a week now, customers have been asking for snow apricot trees continuously. Many sources have run out of goods since December 25th of the lunar calendar, having to wait for new batches to arrive, but it is not enough to meet the demand," Ms. Thu Hang - owner of a flower shop in Mai Dich market (Hanoi) shared.
Snow mai is popular thanks to its soft branch shape, tiny white flowers, carrying the meaning of purity and new beginning. When combined with double lilies, this flower helps the overall vase to be gentle but still luxurious.
Double glasses increase in price due to high demand
Not only snow mai, double lilies also recorded a clear increase in consumption. At some retail outlets, the price of double lilies increased by 10–20% compared to the beginning of the month.
If previously double cups fluctuated around 50,000-60,000 VND/branch (depending on color, depending on type), then close to Tet, many places listed 120,000-150,000 VND/branch. White, pastel pink, and pastel pink colors are most sought after.
Ms. Thanh - owner of a flower shop on Nghia Tan street, Hanoi - said: "Double lilies are selling better than single lilies this year. Customers like them because the flowers are thick, bloom beautifully, and look more luxurious. Demand is increasing, so prices are also rising.
Trend decor strongly impacts the market
Small traders believe that social networks play a large role in promoting consumer trends. Just a few weeks after appearing densely on TikTok, Facebook, the double cup - snow apricot combo quickly became a popular choice for home decoration during Tet.
Many consumers believe that this is a modern and economical option. No need to buy too many decorations, just a beautiful vase of flowers and the space is completely different.
For double lilies, you should prioritize branches with many green and plump buds. Snow apricot trees should be fresh branches, not yet fully blooming. When planting, it is necessary to cut diagonally at the base, change water regularly to keep the flowers durable.
The purchasing power of fresh flowers continues to increase, especially with flower lines following modern decoration trends. Double lilies and snow apricots are likely still in the group of products that many people hunt for close to New Year's Eve.
