These days, although the weather is often stormy, Mr. Dang Huy Man - a delivery staff (shipper) in Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho city) - still sticks to the streets. The male shipper shared that the more the weather causes people to limit movement on the streets, the more opportunities he has to make money.
“On rainy days, not only does people's demand for orders increase, but delivery fees are also supported. Accordingly, the heavier the rain, the farther the delivery distance, the higher the service fee. Compared to the beginning of the rainy season, the number of orders currently increases by about 20 - 30%, especially during peak hours. Thanks to that, daily income also improved from 50,000 - 80,000 VND/day," Mr. Man said.
However, according to Mr. Man, compared to this time last year, the number of orders is still not the same due to the increasing number of shippers and high competition rate to receive orders: "During the peak months of last year's rainy season, I received Continuous application, some days the income is up to 500,000 VND/day. Now I only get about 300,000 VND/day."
Ms. Le Hong Diem - owner of a beverage store in Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho city) - said that due to stormy weather, the number of customers coming to the shop to drink water decreased significantly. Meanwhile, the number of customers ordering online and requesting home delivery has increased, accounting for about 60% of the number of orders per day.
"There are few customers coming to the store, but thanks to the combination of online sales, orders are still received continuously, especially at noon and afternoon. The number of customers ordering online accounts for almost half of the restaurant's orders. Revenue on rainy days is only equal to more than normal days. Because the amount of water sold is equivalent, the shop can save on costs such as electricity, water, etc. because it only sells take away," Ms. Diem shared.
Since entering the rainy season, customers' need for pet care has increased, so the revenue of Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia's store (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) has also increased. Bathing, trimming, and drying fur are services chosen by many customers with service prices ranging from 70,000 - 400,000 VND/turn, depending on the size of the pet.
“In the past 2 months, the weather has changed and it rains a lot, so on average, every 1-2 weeks, customers will bring their pets to my store to have their fur trimmed, bathed, etc. Because if they do it themselves at home, If the fur is not dried properly, the pet is susceptible to fur and skin diseases. Thanks to that, my store earns from 130 - 150 million VND/month (not deducting expenses), which is 30 - 50 million VND/month higher than normal times," Mr. Nghia said.
