Mr. Dang Tan Dat - owner of Tan Toan grilled snakehead fish restaurant - shared: "To have enough grilled fish to sell today, I had to prepare the fish 2 days ago. Last night, I started grilling all night to have enough fish to sell."
Besides grilled snakehead fish, roast pork is also chosen by many people. From early morning, roast pork shops are crowded. Typically, at Tuan Ky roast pork shop on Hung Vuong street (Sa Dec city), on the day of God of Wealth, they prepared half a ton of roast pork. By nearly 8am, more than half of it was sold with prices ranging from 350,000 to 400,000 VND/kg, an increase of 30,000 VND/kg compared to normal days.
“This year, pork prices increased after Tet, so roast pork prices also increased compared to last year. Overall, purchasing power seems stable compared to last year. This amount of meat will probably be sold out in the morning,” said the owner of Tuan Ky restaurant.
Steamed buns are also a popular item on God of Wealth Day. At My Lan Steamed Bun Shop on Hung Vuong Street (Sa Dec City), the shop has prepared 5 times more steamed buns than usual, about 6,000, priced from 20,000 to 30,000 VND/bun, no increase compared to usual. Today, the shop is open from 3am to 8am and 2/3 of the steamed buns have been sold.
Ms. My Lan - the owner of the dumpling shop - said: "I had to prepare since yesterday afternoon, and mobilized more relatives to help to make it on time. Most of the customers at the shop are regular customers, so today the shop kept the same price as usual and did not increase the price."
