On the morning of August 27, in Hai Van ward, Da Nang city, the launching ceremony of the project to invest in construction and business of functional infrastructure at Location No. 2 in Da Nang Free Trade Zone, trade name EAGLE FTZ took place.
This is the first infrastructure project in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone to complete basic construction procedures and be launched. The project has a scale of 75ha, with a total investment of more than 1,568 billion VND, located at the northern gateway of the city.
EAGLE FTZ is connected to Lien Chieu International Seaport, National Highway 1A, La Son - Tuy Loan expressway, Kim Lien freight terminal and about 11km from Da Nang International Airport. The project is oriented to become a modern logistics, production and supporting industry complex.
Speaking at the event, representatives of management agencies said that Da Nang does not set the goal of "filling at all costs", but prioritizes projects with financial capacity, modern technology, high added value, efficient land use and creating substantive links with Vietnamese businesses. The city expects this area to form a modern logistics, production, and international trade ecosystem, creating new jobs and income sources.
Mr. Mai Cong Ho - General Director of Saigon - Da Nang Investment Joint Stock Company, the project investor - said that the enterprise does not aim to develop purely industrial real estate, but builds an integrated logistics - production - service ecosystem, helping businesses shorten goods circulation time, optimize costs and promote digitization.
One of the issues emphasized at the launching ceremony is that Vietnam's logistics costs are still high. Dr. Yap Kwong Weng - representative of YCH Group, Singapore's leading logistics group - said that in 2025, Vietnam's import and export turnover reached about 930 billion USD, while logistics costs still account for about 16% of GDP, higher than the world average of 4-5%.
According to Mr. Yap Kwong Weng, this difference is reducing the competitiveness of businesses. Therefore, the Free Trade Zone needs to go beyond the commodity transshipment model, towards forming value-creating clusters through storage, processing, trade finance and value-added services.
That is why YCH Group and SDN decided to join hands to realize EAGLE FTZ with a methodical approach: Starting streamlined with a practical pilot model from 5 to 10 hectares, operating real goods and customs, combining a mechanism to test policies on customs, taxes and digital trade before expanding.
The project focuses on attracting logistics, international container transshipment, semiconductor, chip packaging, advanced electronics, aviation components, robotics, electric vehicle batteries, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industries. At the same time, the project enjoys special mechanisms on taxes, customs, human resources and foreign exchange applied to Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
