On the afternoon of June 13, in Da Nang city, the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks coordinated with KITA Group to organize the Workshop on Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and Investment Connection 2026. The event attracted the participation of city leaders, experts, business associations and many domestic and foreign investors.
At the workshop, Da Nang city leaders awarded investment policy approval decisions and Investment Registration Certificates to 3 functional area infrastructure projects No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 belonging to Da Nang Free Trade Zone. The total area of the 3 projects is about 910ha, with a total investment capital of more than 15,000 billion VND.
This is considered an important milestone, bringing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone into the practical implementation phase. Along with functional zone No. 5 that was launched earlier, new functional zones will form a development ecosystem including logistics, production, supporting industries, trade services, resorts and high value-added economic sectors.
At the workshop, international and domestic experts shared experiences in developing successful free trade zones in the world such as Shanghai, Qianhai, Incheon, Jebel Ali and Singapore. According to experts, the decisive factor for the success of this model is the combination of open institutions, modern infrastructure, efficient management and synchronous connectivity between seaports, airports, industrial parks, urban areas and innovation centers.
Many opinions assess that Da Nang is possessing outstanding advantages with its position as the gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor, a seaport and international airport system, and the orientation to become a logistics, technology and innovation center of the Central region.
One of the orientations emphasized is the development of Da Nang Free Trade Zone according to a smart model. Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and digital customs solutions will be applied to optimize logistics operations, shorten customs clearance time and improve the transparency of the investment environment.
According to experts, after the models of industrial parks, export processing zones and economic zones, free trade zones are considered a new generation of open economic space, creating conditions for goods, services and investment to circulate at a higher speed.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects Nguyen Thu Phong said that Da Nang Free Trade Zone and Lien Chieu International Port will be an important driving force to form a global city in the future. Expanding development space helps Da Nang have more conditions to become a marine economic, logistics, high-tech and innovation center of the region.
Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that the city will continue to improve strategic infrastructure, promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence in management and operation, and proactively remove difficulties to accelerate the progress of projects. The city is committed to creating a favorable environment, accompanying investors to build Da Nang Free Trade Zone into a new development model of Vietnam.
Within the framework of the event, many memorandums of understanding on cooperation between strategic partners were also signed, opening up opportunities to attract more investment resources for the Da Nang Free Trade Zone in the coming time.
