The coffee capital of the country is Dak Lak province, which is in the coffee harvest season. The whole province has an area of over 212,000 hectares.
Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has issued an official dispatch directing localities and relevant units to ensure the 2024-2025 coffee harvest is highly effective.
Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requested to limit the harvesting of green and immature coffee to contribute to the completion of the province's socio-economic targets. Thereby, the income and life of the people are improved.
In particular, Dak Lak province requires planning and strengthening the work of strictly protecting the coffee area ready for harvest.
Propaganda and mobilization of organizations and individuals not to harvest green coffee, ensuring that the rate of ripe coffee when harvested is over 85%. In case of late harvest, the minimum rate of ripe fruit is 80%.
Local authorities and functional agencies must take strict measures to handle cases of harvesting and trading young coffee. Because coffee is a key agricultural product in the economic structure of the province.
This is also a product that accounts for a large proportion of the province's total social product and annual export turnover. Coffee directly affects the income of the majority of people living in the area.
Currently, coffee prices have reached their highest level in more than 15 years. According to Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province, the increase in coffee prices has improved the living standards of coffee producers.
However, the agricultural sector recommends that when coffee prices rise, people should not pursue short-term benefits, affecting the quality and brand of Dak Lak province's coffee.
