Before the information that gas prices have been adjusted recently, many households in Ho Chi Minh City said that they are still closely monitoring market developments to proactively balance spending.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong (resident of Tan Hung ward) shared: "Every time I change gas cylinders, I ask for the price first because recently I heard that gas prices fluctuate. If it increases a lot, I also have to save more when cooking.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Van Phuc (resident of Binh Hung ward) said that his family uses gas quite often, so he is particularly concerned about price fluctuations. He shared: "My family trades in food, so gas is an essential need, if prices fluctuate, we still have to use it. However, recently, we have also proactively prepared more electric stoves to flexibly use, partly reducing costs.
According to records, many gas businesses in the Southern region and Ho Chi Minh City are adjusting retail gas prices. Unlike before when prices were usually adjusted periodically, now businesses proactively change prices depending on the developments of the energy market.

Regarding the gas industry, Mr. Tran Anh Dung - Deputy General Director of Southern Gas Joint Stock Company - said that basically, the company has implemented supply solutions according to the 12-month plan. At the same time, the enterprise also regularly exchanges and receives guidance from the Department of Industry and Trade and related agencies to ensure meeting the gas use needs of people, not allowing a shortage of domestic gas to occur.
In the short term, from now until around March 20, the company will still try to maintain gas filling to supply to the market, but output may decrease compared to before. The business's market stretches from Nghe An to Ca Mau, so the balance of goods needs to be carefully calculated.
One solution proposed by businesses is to adjust the amount of gas filling into the cylinder, for example, reducing it from 8 kg to 6 kg. If filling 8 kg, it can be used for about 2 months, and 6 kg can be used for about 1.5 months. Reducing the filling amount will help extend the supply, limit local shortages and contribute to stabilizing the gas market to serve people.
Mr. Tran Trung Hieu - Deputy Head of Energy Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade - said that according to reports from key traders, distributors and market management forces, up to this point, the supply of gasoline and oil in the city is basically guaranteed.
The system of gasoline retail stores and gas business establishments still maintains normal operations, meeting the production and consumption needs of people and businesses; no situation of speculation, hoarding or unreasonable price increases has been detected.
In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to closely monitor the developments of the world and domestic energy markets; strengthen information exchange with traders and related units to promptly update the energy supply and demand situation.
At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade also continues to coordinate with functional agencies to maximally support energy enterprises in implementing solutions to coordinate goods sources when necessary, creating favorable conditions for transportation and import of gasoline and oil.
