According to the Can Tho City Statistics Office, commercial activities in the city have been relatively stable in recent months, with revenue from most economic sectors maintaining an increase of over 11%. In the first 11 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 12.19% over the same period.
In November 2024 alone, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue were estimated at VND 11,516.37 billion, up 14.09% over the same period. Of which, retail sales of goods were estimated at VND 8,245.59 billion; accommodation and food revenue was estimated at VND 1,489.60 billion.
Regarding tourism, in November 2024, the weather was sunny and less rainy than the previous month. In addition, there were many major events taking place in the city during the month, so the number of visitors and outdoor recreation increased significantly; tourism revenue was estimated at VND 46.10 billion, up 38.42% over the same period. Other service revenue was estimated at VND 1,735.09 billion, up 14.86% over the same period.
In the first 11 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 120,653.57 billion, up 12.19% over the same period. In the first 11 months of 2024, accommodation and food revenue is estimated at VND 15,219.49 billion, up 12.65% over the same period. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND 622.60 billion, up 60.02% over the same period in 2023. Other service revenue is estimated at VND 17,454.96 billion, up 12% over the same period.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City, it is estimated that in November 2024, Can Tho City will welcome 440,000 visitors and tourists; bringing the total number of visitors and tourists to 5.861 million, reaching 96.1% of the plan.
Of which, the number of tourists staying in November is estimated at 224,000; bringing the total number of tourists staying in 11 months to 2.856 million, up 11% over the same period, reaching 93% of the yearly plan.
Total tourism revenue in November is estimated at VND 467 billion; bringing total tourism revenue in the first 11 months of 2024 to VND 5,640 billion, up 17% over the same period, reaching 94% of the yearly plan.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City - informed that the city is reviewing planning work to attract investment and coordinating with tourism businesses to build products of sufficient scale to turn Can Tho tourism into a spearhead economic sector. In 2024, Can Tho City aims to welcome 6.1 million visitors, with total tourism revenue of 6,000 billion VND.
