Nearly 10.7 thousand enterprises established in January 2025

In January 2025, the whole country had nearly 10,700 newly established enterprises with registered capital of nearly 94,100 billion VND.

According to a new report released on February 6 by the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Planning and Investment), in January 2025, the country had nearly 10.7 thousand newly established enterprises with a registered capital of nearly 94.1 thousand billion VND. The number of registered employees was more than 81.5 thousand, an increase of 6.6% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 2.4% in registered capital and a decrease of 14.8% in the number of employees compared to December 2024.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises decreased by 30.3%, registered capital decreased by 39.3% and the number of employees decreased by 22.3%. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached 8.8 billion VND, down 8.4% compared to the previous month and down 13.0% compared to the same period last year.

The additional registered capital of operating enterprises in January 2025 increased sharply, reaching more than 367.2 trillion VND, up 157.9% over the same period in 2024.

In addition, the whole country also had nearly 22.8 thousand enterprises returning to operation (nearly 2.6 times higher than the previous month and up 65.2% over the same period in 2024), bringing the total number of newly established and returning enterprises in January 2025 to more than 33.4 thousand enterprises, up 15.0% over the same period in 2024.

By economic sector, in January 2025, there were 113 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, down 33.9% over the same period last year; 2,544 enterprises in the industry and construction sector, down 29.6%; 7,996 enterprises in the service sector, down 30.4%.

Also in January 2025, more than 52.8 thousand enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business, 12.6 times higher than the previous month and up 20.2% over the same period in 2024; nearly 3.5 thousand enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures, down 82.4% and down 55.2%; 2,021 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, down 13.8% and down 8.3%.
