World oil price today
World oil prices today increased sharply. At 11:33, WTI crude oil was at 71.65 USD/barrel, up 0.17 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.25%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 71.48 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 71.40 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 74.95 USD/barrel, up 0.18 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.24%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 74.77 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 74.68 USD/barrel.
Thus, world oil prices are on the rise. At the end of the trading session at the beginning of the week, both oil products recorded a significant increase. WTI oil skyrocketed by 3.1%, while Brent oil also increased by 1.5%.
According to analysts, the main reason for the sharp increase in world oil prices is concerns about the possibility of supply disruption if US President Donald Trump imposes additional tariffs on Russia and takes military action against Iran.
Reuters said that over the weekend, US President Donald Trump announced that he would impose a secondary tax of 25% to 50% on countries buying oil from Russia if it believed Moscow was hindered in Washington's efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the US president has threatened to attack Iran and impose additional tariffs if Tehran fails to reach a nuclear deal with Washington.
Analysts say that although there is no specific plan to implement the above measures, these threats still increase concerns about future oil supply disruptions. This makes the oil market more sensitive, pushing oil prices up.
