World gasoline and oil prices reversed to increase after slightly decreasing in yesterday morning's session. At the end of the trading session on July 21, WTI and Brent oil prices both recorded an increase of 2%. This is the highest closing level of Brent oil prices since June 10 and WTI oil prices since June 11.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued the upward trend. At 7:22 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 84.69 USD/barrel, up 0.35 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.41%. World oil prices rose sharply as markets worried about the increasing risk of energy supply disruptions in the Middle East, amid escalating conflict between the US and Iran, and the Houthi forces in Yemen declaring a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia.
Besides geopolitical developments, the oil market is also awaiting the weekly oil inventory report of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and official data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). According to investor estimates, US crude oil inventories in the week ending July 17 decreased by about 500,000 barrels.
