This evening, July 21, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has provided information forecasting weather trends and notable natural disasters in the coming days.
Regarding sea weather, today (July 21), there is a low pressure area in the East of the Philippines. The position of the low pressure area this afternoon is at about 13 degrees North latitude - 135 degrees East longitude, about 1200 km east of the Philippines.
It is forecasted that around July 23, this low pressure area is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression.
Around July 24 - July 25, the tropical depression (strengthening from a low pressure area) is likely to strengthen into a storm with a probability of about 70%.
On July 25-26, this storm (if formed) will likely move into the Northeast area of the Northern East Sea with a probability of about 60 - 70%.
Besides the developments of tropical depressions and storms, the meteorological agency also forecasts that from around July 23-25, the North will likely experience a widespread rain spell.
Total rainfall is commonly from 70 - 150mm, locally with heavy rain over 250 mm. The focus of rain is Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lai Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La provinces need to be wary of the risk of flash floods and landslides.
