According to analysts, oil prices fell sharply in the context of the US and Iran sending positive signals related to negotiations towards an agreement to end the conflict.
On May 24, speaking to reporters in New Delhi during a visit to India, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there is a possibility that "the world will receive good news in the next few hours" related to the agreement between the US and Iran.
According to Mr. Marco Rubio, in the past 48 hours, the two sides have made some progress related to the Strait of Hormuz, although there are still many issues that need to be further negotiated.
On the Iranian side, a spokesman for the country's Foreign Ministry said that the US and Iran are finalizing a memorandum of understanding on ending the conflict, with the goal of reaching a final agreement within 30-60 days.
Observers believe that the Middle East is facing an important turning point. If signed, this could become the largest agreement between the US and Iran in many years, contributing to significantly reducing the risk of regional conflict and stabilizing the global energy market. However, the negotiation process is still considered fragile because the parties still have many differences related to the nuclear program, ballistic missiles, Iran's regional role as well as Israel's security issues.
Analysts believe that the US and Iran are getting closer to a solution, but the prospect of reaching an agreement is still quite vague.
Meanwhile, 7 key oil producing countries of the OPEC+ alliance are forecast to agree to slightly increase production in July at a meeting on June 7, although delivery activities of some countries are still disrupted by conflict.
