World oil prices today
World oil prices continue to fluctuate sharply.
In the last trading session of the week, oil prices simultaneously decreased at the beginning of the session but then quickly reversed to increase. At the end of the last trading session of the week, WTI oil price was at 96.60 USD/barrel, up 0.25 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.26%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 96.35 USD/barrel and opened the last trading session at 97.66 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 103.54 USD/barrel, up 0.96 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.94%. Brent oil price closed the previous trading session at 102.58 USD/barrel and opened the weekend session at 104.62 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, oil prices rose in the last trading session of the week due to investors' concerns that the US and Iran are unlikely to reach a peace agreement, making transportation through the Strait of Hormuz unlikely to return to normal soon.
However, some signs indicate that disagreements between Tehran and Washington are gradually narrowing. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also mentioned "some positive signs" in the negotiation process.
There has been some progress. I don't want to exaggerate, but I also don't want to underestimate it. There is still much work to be done. We have not achieved the goal, but I hope to achieve it," Mr. Marco Rubio told reporters after a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden.
The US currently maintains regular contact with Pakistan - a country that is playing a mediating role in promoting dialogue with Iran. However, there are still many disagreements between the parties regarding Tehran's uranium reserves as well as the control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts believe that global oil inventories are decreasing at an alarming rate, as oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains very low.
