World oil prices today
World oil prices fell sharply today. At 10:07 (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was at 74.09 USD/barrel, down 0.57 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.76%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 74.66 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 74.47 USD/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $76.94 a barrel, down $0.61 a barrel, or 0.79 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $77.55 a barrel and opened today at $76.72 a barrel.
Thus, world oil prices continued to decline in the first trading session of the week. Last week, world oil prices ended a four-session streak of increases and simultaneously fell sharply.
Last week, US President Donald Trump declared an energy emergency to reduce costs and boost energy production and exports. He also pledged to fill the strategic reserve, a move that supported oil market sentiment, analysts said.
However, Mr. Trump's tough trade policies, such as considering imposing a 10% tariff on imports from China and 25% on goods from Canada, and threatening to impose tariffs on Russia and Europe, have added pressure on oil prices due to concerns about a global trade slowdown.
In the Middle East, the Houthis announced that they would stop attacking ships in the Red Sea if a ceasefire in Gaza was secured, along with Mr. Trump's call for Saudi Arabia and OPEC to reduce oil prices, causing oil prices to fall sharply last week.
