World oil prices today
World oil prices continued to fall today. At 10:25, WTI crude oil was at 74.56 USD/barrel, down 0.06 USD/barrel, or 0.08%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 74.62 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 74.28 USD/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $78.23 a barrel, down $0.06 a barrel, or 0.08 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $78.29 a barrel and opened today at $77.86 a barrel.
Thus, world oil prices continued to fall sharply. At the close of trading yesterday (January 23), both WTI and Brent crude oil fell 1.09% and 0.9%, respectively. The downward trend continued this morning.
President Donald Trump’s call for lower oil prices will undoubtedly be welcomed by consumers and businesses, but it will be met with caution by the U.S. oil industry and other global suppliers, analysts say, while lower oil prices could raise concerns about the economics of new projects.
In addition, the broader economic impacts of US tariffs could further reduce global oil demand.
Analysts predict more downside volatility in the oil market in the coming period due to the Trump administration's lack of clarity on trade tariff policy and rising US crude oil supplies.
