World oil prices today
World oil prices increased across the board today. At 10:56, WTI crude oil was at $73.39/barrel, up $0.26/barrel, or 0.34%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at $73.13/barrel and opened today's session at $73.11/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $76.14 a barrel, up $0.21 a barrel, or 0.28 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $75.93 a barrel and opened today at $75.95 a barrel.
Thus, world oil prices have continued to increase sharply. At the close of trading yesterday (January 2), Brent and WTI oil prices increased by 1.7% and 1.97% respectively.
China’s stimulus policies are gradually being applied to some sectors as the country’s economy prepares for new trade risks, analysts said, which has helped oil prices accelerate.
On the supply side, aside from the US, this year will see continued growth in output from Guyana, Canada and Brazil. Expectations that OPEC+ will gradually increase production during the year are fading as the group will only increase when prices rise sufficiently.
Limiting oil’s gains was data on U.S. gasoline and distillate inventories. Gasoline and distillate inventories rose sharply last week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Domestic gasoline prices today
On January 3, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail prices of gasoline and oil were adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of January 2, 2025. Accordingly, the prices of all gasoline and oil products increased simultaneously. E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND 240/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by VND 199/liter, diesel increased by VND 125/liter, kerosene increased by VND 126/liter, and fuel oil increased by VND 129/kg.

Forecast of domestic gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum business, domestic petroleum prices will fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation. According to current market developments, it is forecasted that in the next price adjustment period, petroleum prices will continue to increase. Of which, gasoline prices will increase by about 250-300 VND/liter; oil prices will increase by about 380 VND/liter.
