Cold air is about to strengthen, heavy rain forecast in the area

The meteorological agency forecasts that due to the influence of strengthening cold air, the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh will have some places with heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass has now approached the northern border of our country.

From noon and afternoon on January 9, this strengthened cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then affect the North Central region and some places in the Northwest and North Central regions.

From the afternoon of January 9, the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh will have rain, showers and scattered thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

During the day and night of January 9, the weather in the North, North Central and Central Central regions will continue to be cold. The North and Thanh Hoa will have the lowest temperature of 13 - 15 degrees Celsius, the mountainous areas of the North will have 11 - 13 degrees Celsius, and some high mountainous areas will have temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. The average temperature will be around 17 - 19 degrees Celsius, with some places in the mountainous areas of the North below 16 degrees Celsius.

The North Central region has the lowest temperature of about 15 - 17 degrees Celsius; the average temperature is about 18 - 20 degrees Celsius.

On January 10, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa have the lowest temperature of about 12 - 14 degrees Celsius, the Northern mountainous region 10 - 12 degrees Celsius, the high mountainous region has places below 9 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 15 - 17 degrees Celsius, the Northern mountainous region has places below 15 degrees Celsius.

The North Central region has the lowest temperature of about 14 - 16 degrees Celsius; average temperature of 16 - 18 degrees Celsius.

The area from Quang Binh to Hue has the lowest temperature of about 17 - 19 degrees Celsius; average temperature of 19 - 21 degrees Celsius.

From the night of January 10, cold air continues to strengthen and affect other places in the Northwest and Central Central regions, and some places in the South Central region. Northeast winds inland gradually strengthen to level 2-3, and coastal areas to level 3-4.

The mountainous and midland areas of the North will be very cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold; frost and frost are likely to occur in the high mountains. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North will generally be 9-12 degrees Celsius, in the mountainous areas of the North 6-9 degrees Celsius, and in the high mountains below 5 degrees Celsius in some places. The cold, frost and frost are likely to affect crops and livestock.

The North Central region has a common temperature of 10 - 13 degrees Celsius. The area from Quang Binh to Hue has a common temperature of 14 - 17 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area is cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 9 - 12 degrees Celsius.
