This is the largest international syndicated social loan ever successfully mobilized by a Vietnamese organization, while affirming the strong belief of global financial institutions in HDBank and the development prospects of the Vietnamese economy.
On July 30 in Ho Chi Minh City, HDBank officially signed a social loan with international capital worth 721 million USD with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Standard Chartered and international financial institutions. The capital will be used to expand financial access for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, especially women-owned enterprises, thereby promoting comprehensive finance and sustainable development in Vietnam.
Largest syndicated social loan ever
The loan is structured according to HDBank's Social Loan Principles and Sustainable Financial Framework, co-ordinated by ADB and Standard Chartered. Six international financial institutions also participated in arranging and bookkeeping, including ANZ, Cathay United Bank, Commerzbank, Maybank Securities, MUFG Bank and State Bank of India.
The transaction received unexpected attention from the international investor community, reaching a total disbursement value of 721 million USD, about 60% higher than the initial plan.
According to the General Director of Standard Chartered Vietnam, this is the largest syndicated social loan ever mobilized by a Vietnamese organization, and also recorded a registration level far exceeding the initial target with the active participation of the international lenders community.
This result not only reflects investors' confidence in HDBank and the Bank's leadership team, but also shows Vietnam's long-term growth prospects as well as the increasing attractiveness of a sustainable financial market in the eyes of global investors.
Not only creating an impression of scale, the transaction also affirms HDBank's position in the international capital market, opening up the possibility of accessing quality capital sources at good cost to serve socio-economic development.

Capital for community and sustainable development
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Labor Hero, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Strategic Investor, Standing Vice Chairman of HDBank's Board of Directors, said: "This loan opens a new milestone of development for me personally and HDBank. This is our first loan dedicated to social activities, including programs to support women.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the success of the transaction is a recognition of HDBank's many years of accompanying the community through programs to support people, businesses, health care, education, culture, sports and activities for women and children.
For the first time, a transaction with the participation of a large number of 21 international financial institutions, with the largest scale of funding for social activities and sustainable development, has been successfully implemented," she emphasized.
Mr. Tran Hoai Nam, Standing Deputy General Director of HDBank, said that the capital will continue to consolidate the medium and long-term capital foundation of the Bank, expand credit for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially enterprises owned by women, contributing to promoting comprehensive finance and sustainable growth.
Before this transaction, HDBank successfully mobilized 270 million USD of green capital and 380 million USD of sustainable finance capital from international development finance institutions such as IFC, ADB, Proparco, DEG, LeapFrog, FMO, BII, JICA, FinDev and SMBC.
With a social loan with international capital worth 721 million USD, HDBank not only sets a new record in the Vietnamese capital market but also continues to affirm its capacity to mobilize international capital according to sustainable financial standards, creating more resources to accompany the business community and contribute to Vietnam's sustainable development goals.
