That is the result of a persistent, silent process that has lasted for more than a decade, where every meter of the peach forest is a step to conquer nature and the limits of humans.
Nam Mau Coal Company, under the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), has just organized a program to celebrate the 2.5 millionth ton of coal, reaching the design capacity of the Nam Mau Coal mine underpass investment project, Uong Bi ward, Quang Ninh province.
This is an important milestone affirming the success of TKV's mine modernization strategy.
The Nam Mau coal mine tunnel and well exploitation project was approved by the Group in 2008 with the project's goal of: "Building a modern tunnel mine, with a designed capacity of 2.5 million tons/year, applying mechanical technology, ensuring safety and environmental friendliness".
After 17 years of basic construction, completion and exploitation, the project's design capacity has now been officially completed.
According to the representative of Nam Mau Coal Company, the well exploitation project is a key project, which is decisive for the sustainable development of the unit.
The implementation process encountered many complex geological challenges, but with the close guidance of the Group's leaders and the creative spirit of the team of engineers and workers, the project was completed on schedule.

Achieving an output of 2.5 million tons of coal/year in 2025 is a testament to Nam Mau Coal's ability to manage and master modern tunnel mining technology.
Meanwhile, Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company, Ha Tu Ward, Quang Ninh Province is also preparing to welcome the 2 millionth ton of coal in 2025. This is the goal that thousands of officers, workers and miners of the company have strived for over the past 14 years.
For more than a decade, thousands of the company's miners have quietly opened every meter of road, every furnace branch, so that tons of coal from deep underground can be released onto the ground to serve the economy.
Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company used to be one of TKV's largest open-pit coal mining units, with the peak in 2009 becoming the first unit in the coal industry to exploit 5.1 million tons of raw coal/year.
However, the company quickly switched from open-pit exploitation to tunnel exploitation when the reserve of open-pit resources decreased sharply. In 2012, the Nui Beo Coal mine tunnel construction investment project, with a capacity of 2 million tons/year and a total investment of 5,300 billion VND, was officially started.
In early May 2017, the market with a designed capacity of 250 thousand tons of coal/year, constructed by the self-constructed company, officially exploited the first ton of underground coal.
At the end of 2021, the project completed the basic construction process. This is also the year that Nui Beo Coal has completely ended the exploitation of open-pit coal, closed the mine and switched to exploitation completely under the mine.
In November 2021, this coal mine welcomed the 1 millionth ton of underground coal of the 2021 plan year.
The output of underground coal mining has increased gradually every year, reaching 1.63 million tons of raw coal in 2024, ensuring jobs for more than 3,000 people.
The fact that many mines simultaneously reach the designed capacity mark not only helps maintain stable coal output for the entire Group, but also ensures long-term jobs and income for tens of thousands of miners.
In parallel with the finished mines, many other TKV units are also starting to build new mines, or continue to open the road further down. This is considered a necessary preparation in the context of increasingly decreasing open-pit coal output, in order to create a new, sustainable source of coal for the economy in the coming years.
