Difficulty is the motivation to step out of the comfort zone and make a breakthrough
As a company assigned by Minister Nguyen Manh Hung the responsibility of "finding difficult problems, big problems and solving them with global strength, through cooperation with developed countries", Viettel is a business that always faces major challenges.
With the mission of " Pioneering, the driving force in creating a digital society", Viettel regularly solves problems from building e-government, developing smart cities, solving traffic and urban problems, especially in times of urgent difficulty... It is the high pressure environment that has prompted Hoang Khac Hieu to step out of his comfort zone from the very beginning.
After getting acquainted with the project for a week, I was able to participate in the first working trip to survey customer needs and provide professional training for a group of nearly 40 people - Hieu said about the time he joined Viettel Solutions in 2019, when he had just graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Just two years later, Hieu began to take charge of important projects, the "Green Stream" Project in the Covid-19 era is one of them. Although the epidemic is dangerous, the young engineer is aware of Viettel's responsibility. In addition to business problems, the team also has tasks of a mission nature.
In just two weeks, Hieu and his teammates at Viettel Solutions had to replace the old system with a new one to ensure smooth traffic. In the context of the whole country's social distance due to the epidemic, Hoang Khac Hieu said: "I cannot sit still when the country needs it, I just hope to contribute my strength to the country in difficult times". That is also the reason Hieu is trying his best with the goal of "putting technology into solving practical problems as quickly as possible".
Having grown up from difficult things according to Viettel's philosophy - "throwing yourself into the dead and you will live", Hoang Khac Hieu later maintained his spirit of not being afraid of challenges when taking on new responsibilities.
He and the Viettel engineering team have successfully completed the chairmanship of the Smart Traffic Monitoring Project in the Smart city ecosystem, and have deployed it to more than 30 projects across Vietnam.
In particular, Hieu's Vietnamese technology solutions have conquered the international market through the ITS (smart traffic monitoring) system, TrafficID - integrating AI right on the camera and 5G technology. Hieu proudly shared that it is large projects that have changed thinking and opened up many opportunities for himself as well as added confidence in the power of Make in Vietnam products to help customers in countries with developed economies solve difficult problems.
Hieu always considers each product as a spiritual child to carefully meet customer needs, always having to worry about finding a way to develop, opening up new space, and moving towards his own product to become a better version.
Continuously learn
Hoang Khac Hieu is also an inspirational example for the younger generation who want to pursue science and technology and contribute to the country. Hieu himself is always constantly learning and creating. For Hieu, creativity is the key to survival and breakthrough - true to the philosophy of "Creativity is vitality" that Viettel Solutions always encourages.
The Government Solutions Center - Viettel Solutions, where Hieu is being trusted to be the Head of the Development Department, is also constantly shifting to meet new development goals. In the coming time, the Center will continue to research and implement new solutions to anticipate trends such as expressway management, smart urban traffic management, or solutions for new infrastructure projects such as metro and high-speed railways.
The Board of Directors of the Center as well as our brothers also determined that the new markets will have challenges. However, this will be an opportunity for us to develop further, in addition to the old markets that have been successfully exploited. Continuous growth requires us to always find new opportunities to expand development space, stay ahead of the trend" - Hoang Khac Hieu emphasized.

At Viettel Solutions, Hoang Khac Hieu is highly appreciated by the Board of Directors. He has been awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at Viettel Solutions for 4 consecutive years since 2021, and won the title of "All- around Emulation Fighter" 2024. He is also one of the young people nominated for the title of outstanding young face of Vietnam in 2024.
