Resident deposits hit peak and the problem of cooling down interest rates
According to the State Bank of Vietnam, by the end of May, personal customer deposits reached more than 10.826 million billion VND, a record high, an increase of nearly 491,000 billion VND compared to the end of 2025. Cash flow continues to flow into banks even though deposit interest rates are no longer as high as in previous years, showing that people are prioritizing safety in the context that investment channels such as gold, real estate and securities are not attractive enough.
The banking system is currently facing imbalanced pressure between short-term capital sources and medium and long-term lending demand. According to KBSV Securities Company, credit growth exceeding deposits along with inflation and exchange rate pressure are likely to keep deposit interest rates at a high level in the third quarter of 2026, before gradually cooling down from the beginning of the fourth quarter if liquidity is improved and macroeconomic factors are favorable. Diamond sales customers increase sharply, PNJ launches new trick
PNJ spent more than 7,000 billion VND to repurchase diamond products from customers. After a period of sudden increase in the number of sellers, the business adjusted the exchange process, applying two options including exchange for new products or receiving cash according to a 120-day roadmap, and limiting transaction time from 3 pm - 5 pm at some stores.
Many customers accept losses of 20-25% when reselling diamonds and gemstones to switch to holding 24K gold, due to concerns about market fluctuations. With the option of switching to gold, PNJ applies a more preferential purchase level, up to 90% of the invoice value for diamonds and supports reduced processing labor costs.
According to records, although the inspection and payment process is tightened, many customers still appreciate the service attitude of the staff and said that the valuation is carried out in accordance with the announced purchase policy. See more...

Vietnamese fresh durian officially allowed to be exported to India
The Indian government has officially added Vietnam to the list of countries allowed to export fresh durian to this market under the amended Plant Quarantine Regulation in 2026. Notably, the Indian side does not require additional plant quarantine declarations and does not apply special import conditions to fresh durian from Vietnam.

Market opening is seen as the result of technical coordination between the two countries, creating more opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to diversify export markets, reduce dependence on traditional markets and increase the value of Vietnamese durian. However, in the early stages, demand is forecast to mainly concentrate in large cities, high-end retail systems, restaurants, hotels and e-commerce platforms in India.
The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection recommends that businesses carefully study the tastes, product specifications, transportation methods and distribution systems before exporting. At the same time, maintaining quality, complying with import regulations and professionalizing the production, packaging, and preservation chain will determine the long-term efficiency of Vietnamese durian in the Indian market.
