37 projects registered to pour more than VND 13,600 billion into the province
According to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the impact of the US tariff policy has affected the province's industrial production activities, causing the industrial production index in April to increase by only 2.96% compared to the previous month. Some key products such as inmentite ore decreased more than 94.5%; titanium oxide decreased by over 48%.
Export turnover in April reached 161.4 million USD, down 2.6% over the same period. However, total export turnover in the 4 months still reached 616.6 million USD, equal to 36.1% of the annual plan.
On the contrary, commercial and service activities in the province continue to record positive signals. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in April reached more than VND 10,588 billion, up 7.9% over the same period. Tourism also improved with more than 4.2 million visitors in 4 months, up 14.2%; tourism revenue in April is estimated at VND 2,830 billion.
Regarding public investment, in the first 4 months of the year, more than VND 2,060 billion was disbursed. State budget revenue reached nearly VND6,000 billion, equal to 34.4% of the estimate for the whole year and up 50.3% over the same period in 2024.
A bright spot is attracting investment. By the end of April, the whole province had attracted 37 projects, with a total registered capital of VND 13,631 billion, an increase of more than 105% in quantity over the same period.
Regarding social security, the housing support program for poor and near-poor households has been effectively implemented. To date, 4,412 households with damaged houses have been supported to rebuild and repair; of which 3,608 houses have been completed and put into use, reaching 82%.
At least 1 major tourism event per month
According to Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan, the results of socio-economic development in the past 4 months have been quite positive, maintaining a stable growth rate. However, he noted a number of issues that may affect growth in the coming time, especially developments in the tariff agreement between Vietnam and the US.
In May, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested all levels, sectors and localities to focus on drastically implementing tasks according to the socio-economic development plan and budget for 2025. In particular, it is necessary to promptly urge and support new industrial projects, speed up the construction progress of industrial parks and clusters, to create more incentives to attract investment, while creating favorable conditions for people and businesses.
Regarding trade and tourism, he requested the implementation of stimulus solutions to increase the number of visitors to the province. "From now until September 2025, at least one large-scale tourism event must be organized each month to serve people and tourists," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan emphasized.
The Chairman of Binh Dinh People's Committee also pays special attention to the organization of the new branch and commune authorities after the merger. He requires the district authorities to review and quickly complete the project and plan to arrange the organizational structure, and at the same time arrange the personnel appropriate to submit to the competent authority for approval.
" Localities develop specific plans on organizing the activities of public service units, ensuring continuous operation, without interruption, avoiding affecting the work of serving the people", Mr. Pham Anh Tuan suggested.
