VIB has just adjusted down the deposit interest rate for short terms from 1-5 months. According to the online savings interest rate schedule applied to deposits under 300 million VND, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms decreased by 0.4 percentage points to 4.35%/year; the 3-5 month term decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 4.45%/year.
For deposits from 300 million VND to under 3 billion VND, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms decreased by 0.35 percentage points to 4.4%/year, while the 3-5 month term decreased by 0.25 percentage points to 4.5%/year.
For deposits from 3 billion VND or more, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 4.45%/year; the 3-5 month term decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 4.55%/year.
Meanwhile, VIB maintains the deposit interest rate for terms from 6-36 months and applies a common interest rate for all deposit scales. Specifically, the interest rate for terms 6-8 months is maintained at 5.7%/year, and the term of 9-11 months is 5.8%/year.
The highest interest rate at VIB is currently 7%/year, applied to 12-month online deposits. Longer terms have lower interest rates, including 5.9%/year for 15-18 months and 6%/year for 24-36 months.
VIB is the second bank after LPBank to reduce deposit interest rates in June without any previous interest rate increase moves. Meanwhile, some other banks such as BIDV and ACB have adjusted interest rates in the direction of increasing and then quickly decreasing back to the old level.
