Sacombank has just continued to sharply reduce online deposit interest rates, with the highest reduction of up to 0.7%/year. According to the new interest rate schedule for individual customers receiving interest at the end of the term, online interest rates for terms of 6-36 months applied to deposits under 50 million VND decreased by 0.1-0.2%/year; deposits from 50 million VND to under 500 million VND decreased by 0.3-0.6%/year; deposits from 500 million VND or more decreased by 0.5-0.7%/year. Meanwhile, the term of 1-5 months remains unchanged at 4.75%/year for all limits.
After adjustment, online interest rates for deposits under 50 million VND are listed at 6.6%/year for terms of 6-11 months, 6.8%/year for terms of 12-18 months and 7.1%/year for terms of 24-36 months. For deposits from 50 million VND to under 500 million VND, the corresponding interest rates are 6.8%/year, 7%/year and 7.2%/year.
For deposits from 500 million VND or more, the interest rate for terms of 6-11 months is 7%/year, the term of 12-18 months is 7.2%/year, and the highest term of 24-36 months is 7.3%/year. Previously, Sacombank had raised the interest rate for these two terms to 8%/year.
Meanwhile, Bac A Bank also reduced the 13-month term savings interest rate by 0.25%/year, from 7%/year to 6.75%/year for deposits under 1 billion VND. For deposits over 1 billion VND, the bank lists the highest interest rate of 7.05-7.1%/year for terms from 6-12 months.
To date, 6 banks have adjusted interest rate schedules in May. Among them, VPBank and Sacombank reduced deposit interest rates; Bac A Bank increased interest rates for 13-month terms and then quickly reduced them back to the old level; OCB increased interest rates for many terms; Saigonbank strongly increased online savings interest rates for 13-month terms to 7.9%/year, and at the same time reduced deposit interest rates for terms of 7-11 months and 18-36 months.
