According to data from the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), in July, the average deposit interest rate increased for most terms, except for deposits with terms under 1 month.
The average VND deposit interest rate of the group of state-owned commercial banks (NHTM) and the group of joint-stock commercial banks for new and old deposits is at 0.1-0.2%/year for demand deposits and term deposits under 1 month.
For terms from 1 month to less than 6 months, the average deposit interest rate is at 4.1-4.6%/year, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.
Term from 6 months to 12 months has an interest rate of 6.3-7.8%/year, an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to June.
For deposits with terms over 12 months to 24 months, the interest rate is at 6.0-7.4%/year; terms over 24 months are at 7.2-7.9%/year, also up 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.
A survey of savings interest rates at more than 30 banks shows that, with normal deposit conditions, Saigonbank is listing the highest interest rate of up to 7.9%/year for online deposits with a term of 13 months. The 12-month and 18-month terms have interest rates of 7.2%/year and 7%/year respectively.
In addition to Saigonbank, some banks are also listing savings interest rates from 7%/year or higher.
Bac A Bank applies an online deposit interest rate of 7.05%/year for terms of 7-11 months. The highest interest rate at this bank is 7.1%/year, applied for a 12-month term.
At LPBank, the online deposit interest rate for a 6-month term is 7%/year. The terms of 12, 24 and 25 months are listed at 7.2%/year, while the term of 13-18 months has an interest rate of 7.15%/year.
