On September 9, a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade led by Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai worked with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province on industrial and energy development and solutions to promote double-digit growth.
According to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, the whole province currently has 15 industrial parks with investors building infrastructure, with a total area of about 10,500ha; 14 parks have been put into operation.
In the 2026-2030 period, the province plans 64 energy projects with a total capacity of more than 10,700MW. Of which, 38 projects have been approved for investment policy, with a total capacity of over 8,220MW.
Notably, 5/6 wind power projects have basically completed construction but cannot be commercially operated due to mineral planning.
In the first 8 months of 2026, industrial production in Lam Dong increased by 10.6% compared to the same period, with the processing and manufacturing industry alone increasing by more than 17%.
From July, Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant went into operation, opening up more room for the development of the bauxite - alumin - aluminum value chain.
At the working session, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that industry and energy are important pillars promoting the province's growth after the merger. However, many projects still face difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process.
Mr. Muoi proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the province develop a general plan, clearly defining tasks, responsibilities and completion deadlines for each sector such as energy, electricity, minerals and power line infrastructure.
For ongoing projects, it is necessary to unify the handling direction; for new projects, clearly define the starting point and responsibilities of each unit, avoiding delays and prolongations.
Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai assessed that Lam Dong has a lot of potential in industry, energy and holds an important position in developing these fields.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will handle contents under its authority, and at the same time coordinate with central ministries and branches on issues beyond its authority.
According to Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai, at the end of 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is expected to submit adjustments to mineral and electricity planning, creating a basis for updating and promulgating relevant regulations. This is considered a basis for Lam Dong and localities to remove obstacles for energy projects that have been prolonged for many years.
