On June 11, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi has signed a document directing departments, branches and localities to tighten management of durian production, purchasing, preliminary processing, packaging and export activities in the area.

In which, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province is assigned to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen the management of the issuance and use of planting area codes and packaging facilities; and at the same time review and update databases and inspect the maintenance of conditions according to regulations.
Functional agencies must also promote post-inspection, traceability control, plant quarantine, food safety and requirements from import markets; closely monitor the production, harvesting and consumption of durian.
According to Lam Dong Provincial Police, in the past time, the management of planting area codes and packaging facilities still has violations, potentially affecting local durian exports and brands.

The prominent situation is the use of codes that are not true to reality; purchasing products outside the raw material area but still using planting area codes to legalize export dossiers; or arbitrarily using codes of other businesses without permission, leading to warnings or temporary export suspension.
In addition, functional agencies also recorded the situation of brokering, buying, selling, leasing, and lending planting area codes; buying and selling test papers or falsifying test results to legalize dossiers.
Some organizations and individuals, after being granted codes, do not directly produce and package them but authorize other units to operate, causing difficulties for management and traceability.

According to statistics, by April 2026, the whole province had 131 durian growing area codes and 129 packaging establishments temporarily suspended or recalled by imports due to violations of regulations on plant quarantine and food safety.

In the period 2024–2025, through export quality inspection, functional agencies discovered 17 durian samples contaminated with mealybugs and 6 samples with Cadmium content exceeding or close to the permissible limit.
Currently, Lam Dong has about 45,550 hectares of durian, the largest in the country, with an estimated output of 310,000 tons in 2026, mainly exported to China and some other markets.
The province also said that currently only 2 units are qualified to test Cadmium and Gold O for export, the risk of overload during the peak harvest season may affect customs clearance progress and lead to testing fraud.
The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Police to coordinate with departments and branches to strengthen inspection, detection and strictly handle acts of fraudulent planting area codes, fraudulent origin, food safety and plant quarantine.
