The 2026 high school graduation exam questions are built closely following the content of the 2018 General Education Program, ensuring correct assessment of students' abilities and qualities. Candidates need to understand the knowledge and skills in the program with many sets of textbooks, especially practical and application issues.
In addition to Literature, which is tested in essay form, the remaining subjects are all multiple-choice tests with 3 types of questions: 4-choice multiple-choice test, correct/wrong multiple-choice test and short answer multiple-choice test.
According to Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, the setting of exam questions between subjects must ensure balance at a relative level, to ensure fairness between candidates choosing different exam subjects. At the same time, the exam questions must ensure accuracy to avoid cases where multiple meanings can be understood in the questions, each question.
Regarding exam marking, Mr. Son said that marking essays, especially Literature, is difficult to avoid qualitative factors. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training has requested thorough training for the exam marking team; organize common marking, carefully discuss answer keys and agree on assessment methods at each exam marking council as well as nationwide. The goal is to minimize score differences due to qualitative factors between localities.
