Durian bumper crop
In the early days of June, the durian harvesting atmosphere in the southern communes of Lam Dong province became bustling.

According to statistics, the Da Huoai area including Da Huoai, Da Huoai 2, Da Huoai 3, Da Teh, Da Teh 2 and Da Teh 3 communes currently has more than 10,000ha of durian, of which about 7,500ha are being harvested.
Mr. Le Quang Son - Director of Ha Lam Agricultural and Tourism Cooperative (Da Huoai 2 commune) - said that durian is bumper this year than last year. If the average yield in 2025 is about 15 tons/ha, this year it is estimated to reach 18 - 20 tons/ha.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Director of Da M'ri Agricultural Cooperative, for many years, cooperative members have developed durian gardens in an organic, VietGAP direction, so the trees grow well, giving high yield and quality.
Along with applying safe production processes, local authorities also encourage people to build sustainable durian growing areas, adapt to climate change and meet the requirements of the export market.

With more than 20ha of durian, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hong Diep (Da Huoai 2 commune) is one of the large-scale production households in the locality.
This year, his family has more than 15ha entering harvest with an estimated yield of about 20 tons/ha.
However, according to Mr. Diep, because the tree blooms many times, the harvest time is longer than last year.
If 2025 only harvests about 2 batches, this year is expected to last from 3 to 4 batches. This may affect fruit quality if prolonged rain occurs during harvest time.
Prices are stable and gradually increasing
According to businesses and purchasing warehouse owners in Da Huoai, durian prices this year are relatively stable and tend to increase slightly compared to the end of May.

Currently, Mongthong durian (Thai Dona) type 1 is purchased at the warehouse at a price of 72,000 - 74,000 VND/kg, type 2 is about 54,000 VND/kg. The bulk purchase price at the garden ranges from 50,000 - 62,000 VND/kg depending on quality.
For Ri6 variety, the purchase price at the granary ranges from 27,000 - 42,000 VND/kg, while the purchase price at the garden is from 25,000 - 27,000 VND/kg.
According to people, if the selling price is maintained at the current level until the end of the season, durian growers will have a high income source.

Mr. Vu Quang Chinh - owner of Minh Dang durian purchasing warehouse (Da Huoai commune) - said that currently the facility purchases 70 - 80 tons of durian every day. Goods are packed in containers and exported to the Chinese market immediately after purchasing.
In recent days, prolonged rain has appeared, so the quality of durian has been somewhat affected. If the weather is more favorable in the near future and the fruit quality is guaranteed, the purchase price is likely to continue to increase," Mr. Chinh assessed.
In Da Huoai 2 commune - a locality considered the center of the durian region of the province, there are currently about 3,400ha of durian. Average income per capita reaches about 105 million VND/year, ranking among the highest in Lam Dong province.

The locality also formed a Farmer Billionaire Club with more than 100 members who are durian production households with an income of 1 billion VND per year or more.
Members are all pioneers in applying VietGAP standards and building planting area codes for export.
Mr. Dang Huu Bo - Deputy Head of the club said that durian has helped many households increase their income and rise to get rich.
With high productivity and stable selling prices as they are now, people are expecting a successful crop.
